Experienced Private Equity M&A Attorney, Chicago, IL

Ice Miller is seeking an experienced private equity M&A attorney with at least 6 years of law firm experience to join our Chicago office. Junior partner candidates will be considered.

Successful candidates will work with our Private Equity team across several offices representing middle market and lower middle market private equity funds, family offices and independent sponsors in their leveraged buyouts, mergers and acquisitions, and growth capital transactions. Candidates also should have experience acting in first chair role on transactions. Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills, a team oriented mentality, and be a motivated self-starter with strong credentials.   

In this position you will:

• Lead and/or manage private equity M&A transactions.
• Have opportunities for advancement, including partnership track, in a collegial environment.
• Collaborate across offices, especially with a busy private equity practice serving primarily New York-based PE funds.
• Receive training opportunities with growing levels of responsibility.
• Engage in business development activities.

• Have experience with M&A private equity transactions and interacting directly with clients.
• Demonstrate a keen interest in developing and implementing relationship building skills both internally and externally.
• Be highly motivated and a self-starter.
• Possess strong business acumen.
• Have experience serving in a first chair role.
• Be flexible and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Have experiences that prepare them to work with attorneys, staff and clients from cultures and backgrounds different from their own.
