Job Description
Job Title: Flagger 1
Pay Scale: OR: $14.00
Job Summary:
Flagger 1 will perform a wide range of traffic control tasks to provide safety and support to our contractors on job sites or public/private roadways
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Flagger 1 should use hand signals and direction signs to direct traffic around road constructions sites
- Flagger 1 should communicate with other flaggers using hand-held radios to direct two-way traffic onto a single lane
- Flagger 1 should inform the construction crew of any traffic issues that may affect their safety
- Flagger 1 should appropriately position warning and detour signs around construction sites
- Flagger 1 should set up barricades and traffic cones along construction sites to cordon off certain areas
- Flagger 1 should remove all signs, barricades and traffic cones upon completion of construction work
- Flagger 1 should perform other related duties as assigned
Work Environment
This position generally requires 8 hours a day, if not sometimes more depending on the project. The workweek is Monday-Friday and occasionally on weekends/nights depending on the project. This position requires work in the outdoors in all types of weather. It involves walking, standing, bending and possible stooping for extended periods, as well as carrying and lifting heavy objects. The location of this position will be listed on an offer letter
Required Skills / Abilities:
- Flagger 1 should have the ability to listen to, understand, and follow directions
- Flagger 1 should have the ability to remain flexible as specific assignments change
- Flagger 1 should have the ability to work with a variety of personalities
- Flagger 1 should have the ability to work under pressure
- Flagger 1 should have the understanding of basic flagging policies, procedures, rules, and state and federal laws
Education and Experience:
- Flagger 1 should have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Flagger 1 should have prior job experience preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Flagger 1 must have a state valid flagger certification card
- Flagger 1 should have a valid driver license, to operate company equipment/vehicle
