SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVE
The Graduate Admissions Counselor is responsible for assisting the Director in recruiting and counseling prospective students, and developing relationships with college and university faculty, community-based-organizations, and businesses. Admissions counseling, application review, and completed transfer documentation via evaluation of transfer portfolios and transcripts are significant functions of this position. This position assists with the organization, training and operations of the Admissions Department. Coordination and execution of graduate program recruitment is a key role. This position works in conjunction with graduate department chairs and committees. The Graduate Admissions Counselor must be sensitive to college needs, employee and student goodwill, and overall brand equity of MCAD as an employer and educational institution.
This position does not have supervisory responsibility.
BA/BFA or equivalent, required; MFA in visual arts, preferred. Must have completed studio art coursework.
Extensive overnight travel is required and demonstrated ability to travel both locally and nationally that may frequently require being away from home for extended periods. Must be available to work weekends. Works and drives for extended periods of time, including the ability to load, unload, transport and assemble display materials. In order to perform these requirements, candidates must possess a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and complete a satisfactory motor vehicle check (MVR).
This position has been identified as security sensitive and will require a background check. At the discretion of the college, various background checks may be done during the course of employment.
This position operates in a professional office environment. This position requires the ability and willingness to closely partner with team members and colleagues in other departments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position also operates in various remote locations, including but not limited to, other college and school campuses, high schools, career and portfolio days, and other venues. Under these conditions, the employee may be exposed to outdoor weather and other conditions.
