  • Heavy Equipment Operators will be responsible for operating heavy earth moving equipment in support of company grading and site operations. Abilities include but are not limited to the following:

    • Ability to proficiently operate two or more types of heavy equipment such as a skid steers, scrapers, dozer, excavator, loader, rock trucks, compactors, articulated trucks, crushers, and/or motor graders with or without GPS in a manner to prepare the job site to meet the required grades.
    • Good general knowledge of how to construct/grade new roadways, base courses, building pads, footing excavation and water ponds and to properly slope and grade to specifications.
    • Ability to load, move, level and grade dirt, rocks, demoed concrete and other materials in a safe and efficient manner all in a high paced environment to maintain production goals.
    • Ability to maintain the initiative to maintain the flow of work under minimal supervision.
    • Experience with the demolition of bridges and other structures with excavators and hydraulic hoe rams is preferred but not necessary.
    • Experience operating equipment within a Pipe Crew environment such as an excavator or loader is preferred but not necessary.
    • Experience Fine Grading with various pieces of equipment.
    • Experience operating equipment safely and productively in and around active highway traffic under Maintenance of Traffic conditions and live traffic on a highway construction project is preferred.
    • General housekeeping, light maintenance of equipment, proper care of equipment, operating the equipment without damaging it along with maintenance checks of equipment including reporting usage/utilization hours on a daily basis.
    • Experience working with GPS installed devices on dozers and motor graders is preferred but not necessary
    • Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning loads in response to hand or audio signals from other crew members.
    • Must have the ability to communicate clearly, listen and understand information through spoken works and sentences to ensure full comprehension of job duties, safety regulations, and other situations that may require an immediate response.
    • Learn, follow and promote all safety standards of Ralph L Wadsworth and it’s projects.
    • Work may require weekend, holiday, and/or overtime work as the project needs require.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.



  • Minimum of 3 + Years of Heavy Equipment Operating Experience
  • Ability to work as a Team Member and work in a professional manner and a positive attitude
  • Motivated self-starter and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work safely under pressure with time constraints in a changing environment.
  • Experience operating two or more pieces of earth moving equipment (skid steer, dozer, excavator, loader, trucks, grader, etc..)
  • Frequent gross body movements such as bending, climbing into equipment, lifting (up to 75lbs), twisting, standing, balancing, stooping, handling materials, moving around hazardous sites.
  • Good Eye to Hand coordination a must. Depth perception required.
  • High School diploma/GED preferred.
  • Flexible availability to include overtime and possible weekends.
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Experience Fine Grading with various pieces of equipment
