Position Summary:

The Route/Delivery Driver delivers a wide variety of cold dairy products to multiple customer locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Driving Company Performance

  • Deliver cold dairy products to customers in an efficient, timely, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Load or unload cases of product manually with hook, handcart or pallet-jack onto and off the truck. Ensure load is properly secured.
  • Collect empty cases.
  • Follow and comply with DOT regulations per the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations handbook.
  • Complete all daily DOT and customer paperwork including delivery tickets, pre and post trip inspections, driver logs, and vehicle service reports.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations during transport of loads on assigned route.
  • Check load security prior to travel and make any adjustments as needed.
  • Collect money from customers and record transaction on receipts.
  • Maintain signed invoices, shipping bills of lading, and other required paperwork, and turn in documentation to shipping office or other appropriate staff when delivery route is complete.
  • Resolve customer complaints.
  • Maintain a valid Class A or B CDL with air brakes endorsement and current DOT medical card. Per Company and/or DOT regulations, report any moving violations to management immediately.
  • Utilize continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
  • Follow all required work safe practices. This would include wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required

Preferred

Work Experience

0-1 year of experience, training is provided.

One (1) year of experience driving with a CDL.

Education

High School diploma or Equivalent

Technical Knowledge

  • Clean driving record
  • Maintain CDL Class A or Class B
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to write legibly to complete paperwork
  • Basic Math skills
  • Follow and comply with all safety standards

Physical Demands and Work Environment :

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions:

  • This position operates in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Must be able to work in indoor and outdoor environment with moderate noise, sometimes slippery floors.
  • Temperatures range from 34-120 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Employees are required to wear PPE provided by the company that is in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Employees may experience swings in work-related demands of this position.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to drive, stand, walk, kneel, lift and bend for virtually the entire shift.
  • The employee will regularly pull products and climb in and out of truck.
  • Employees must be able to lift and/or move up to six cases on a hand truck (cases weigh 20 to 55 pounds).
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Must have full range of body motion.
