Position Summary


The candidate for the seasonal position will support day to day duties of the Sr. Land Coordinator at Gillmor Sanctuary May through October 2024. This is a full-time seasonal position, at $15/hr.

The candidate will assist Sr. Land Coordinator in all aspects of land management activities relating to invasive weed management, wetland management, water infrastructure, vehicle, and tool maintenance, and monitoring the sanctuary.

This role will be based out of the Audubon office, in Salt Lake City, UT.
Compensation:
$15.00 / hour

Essential Functions


  • Mapping extent of invasive plant outbreaks on the sanctuary.

  • Small area herbicide application using a backpack sprayer.

  • Mowing with a brush-cutter.

  • Clearing debris from canals and water control structures.

  • Assist with equipment and vehicle maintenance.

  • Communications between Audubon staff and contractors.

  • Assist with ongoing or new research applications at the sanctuary (data collection and use of scientific instruments).

  • Help with data management / data entry.

  • Help coordinate volunteers during volunteer events at the sanctuary.


  • Qualifications and Experience


  • Willingness to learn about and conduct land and/or wetland management tasks.

  • Willingness to learn about and perform herbicide application.

  • Familiarity with invasive weed species.

  • Familiarity and experience with operating and maintaining heavy tools, operating ATV / side by side.

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • Ability to lift 50lb.

  • Ability to work outdoors for most of the day in excessive heat.

  • Ability to work safely with heavy tools and other equipment around other people.

  • Tolerance and preparation for diverse field conditions (sun exposure, biting insects, mud, and water, etc.).

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to follow directions well and work independently.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft suite programs (Excel, Word, etc.).

  • ArcGIS familiarity a plus.
