The Position:

The Lab Assistant is responsible for accurately handling all laboratory specimens and ensures specimen integrity throughout laboratory procedures. S/he will accession specimens upon receipt in the lab, perform specimen verification and tracking, and develop skills in troubleshooting difficult cases. You'll have the opportunity for ongoing training, competency assessments and sharing ideas for continuous improvement in the lab. This position's schedule will be Tuesday to Saturday, and 9:30am to 6:00pm.

Responsibilities:

  • Accession all cases received for testing. This includes matching patient information, data entry, and scanning documents into our Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Review all requisitions for missing information, enter applicable information into the LIS, and escalate issues as well as provide resolution in a timely fashion per standard operating policies and procedures.
  • Label samples and forward samples to the correct area within lab
  • Assist with the archiving and storage of patient samples
  • Perform quality assurance checks of samples
  • Participate in other laboratory tasks such as handling deliveries, inventory, scanning documents, slide filing, etc.
  • Actively engage in department huddles, meetings and 1:1s with managers

Who You Are:

You've successfully completed an accredited program or hold an associates level degree. You have demonstrated the ability to problem solve and proactively collaborate with peers. In previous roles you were known for your high attention to detail. Candidates with previous work experience (laboratory or non-laboratory) will be given preference. Medical scribes or transcriptionists are encouraged to apply.

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units. Veracyte is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
