Salary Range: $62,800 - $83,700 annually

At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Position Summary

The Trust Administrator is responsible for servicing and maintaining existing relationships with investment management clients, trust clients, beneficiaries, and other interested parties in partnership with the accounts' designated Trust Officer. In addition, the Trust Administrator may serve as the lead relationship manager on his/her own book of business. This position is an individual contributor role.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Collaborates with the Trust Officer to maintain up-to-date information on beneficiaries, and their changing needs and circumstances in order to carry out the Bank’s fiduciary duties and to provide superior client service.
  • Recommends appropriate financial products and services tailored to meet clients’ objectives, tax and estate needs, risk tolerance and asset allocations.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact or relationship manager for existing book of client accounts.
  • Identifies opportunities for additional product cross-sell to existing clients.
  • Develops and maintains a referral network of internal and external sources for additional sales opportunities.
  • Maintains contact with existing clients, beneficiaries, and referral sources to deliver agreed upon services, address customer inquiries and resolve servicing issues.
  • Interprets trust documents and client account agreements with an eye for detail.
  • Exercises judgement in processing client requests and make recommendations for fiduciary approvals above specified limits.
  • Strictly adheres to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with Bank and regulatory standards.
  • The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
  • Represents the Bank in community activities and industry organizations to enhance the Bank’s image.
  • May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

Education/Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in trust administration.
  • 1+ years previous experience in trust administration (advanced designations and/or preparatory work or guidance may sometimes be assessed in lieu of experience).
  • Understanding of different investment products and allocation strategies for meeting client investment objectives.
  • Ability to read and interpret trust and legal documents.
  • Demonstrated success working in team environment.
  • Ability to meet time constraints without constant supervision.
  • Professionalism and courtesy in dealing with customers and bank employees.
  • Ability to articulate ideas concisely and work in a dynamic and fast past environment.
  • High degree of accuracy with attention to detail required.
