Physical Requirements
Must be able to work from ladders or lifts up to 15 feet or higher, lift and carry 30 pounds, work in tight places for extended periods of time, able to distinguish colors, traverse campus while carrying or moving equipment in a reasonable amount of time, and sit or stand for long periods of time.
Shift
Monday-Friday (40 hrs/wk); Generally 2pm – 11pm; and occasional overtime as needed.
Job Summary
Infrastructure Operations is seeking an ITS Electronic Technician Assistant. This entry-level position will learn and develop skills necessary to assist other Infrastructure Operations staff in the performance of their duties. Typical activities include, but are not limited to, the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment and fiber/copper cabling to support the 24/7 operation of telecommunications services for all University and UK HealthCare departments. Training in competencies and skills is provided through on-the-job, classroom, and related industry programs. Ideal candidates will possess a strong work ethic, a commitment to service, and a focus on continuous improvement in a professional environment.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Basic Math and Science. Distinguish between different colors. Manual dexterity to complete fine motor tasks. Climb ladders. Basic reading and writing. Basic knowledge of ethernet and/or fiber troubleshooting procedures. Critical thinking, problem/situation analysis, and accurate documentation skills.
