Responsibilities
The Manager of Community and Social Innovation will work on a variety of projects ranging from large, complex, multi-disciplinary engagements to smaller, niche projects. For complex engagements, the Manager will perform as an individual contributor on a diverse engagement team, working under the supervision of a Director or Project Lead, to develop work products, lead specific project initiatives, and act as a subject matter expert. For smaller, niche projects, the Manager will lead and direct a small team to execute and deliver on the project objectives. Client engagement activities include but are not limited to framing issues, problem structuring, strategic planning, project coordination, technical assistance, training, facilitation, and plan execution. The Manager will support our Housing, Community & Economic Development as well as Diversity & Inclusion practice areas. 

This is a remote position. The ideal candidate will reside within the NJ tri-state area, specifically Union County or Essex County, to accommodate frequent local client meetings, while also being prepared for up to 20% travel to other areas as needed.

Skills / Who You Are
You will manage, support, and engage on multiple consulting projects providing project and program management, technical assistance, research, and evaluation. You will serve as a liaison, thought partner and advisor to clients as needed. Conduct and support qualitative (i.e., interviews and focus groups) and quantitative assessments/research/surveys; perform gap and data analysis in support of strategic planning. Guide the development of tactical implementation plans. Manage the execution workplans, organize teams and budgets, and ensure assignments are completed on time and within budget. Generate interim and summary reports on findings. Participate in and occasionally deliver presentations. Provide training and facilitation to build organizational capacity. Contribute to business development efforts to expand work in the Housing, Community & Economic Development as well as Diversity & Inclusion practice areas.  

You bring to the table:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; comparable relevant professional experience may be an alternative to a degree. 
  • 5 to 7 years’ professional experience in social services, diversity and inclusion, community building, community development, economic development, organizational development, community organizing, or related fields.  
  • Experience in roles that required project and program management, technical assistance, research, and evaluation particularly on projects related to housing, community, and economic development, diversity and inclusion, and social services. 
  • Experience working with community-based organizations, diverse communities and a demonstrated commitment to social and economic justice issues.  
  • A solid understanding of public and private sectors involvement in improving quality of life among marginalized communities.  
  • Solid systems and policy background; able to analyze and frame root causes for social, political, and cultural issues facing marginalized populations.  
  • Experience working on multiple dynamic tasks and projects requiring quantitative (i.e., surveys) and qualitative research (i.e., interviews and focus groups), and ad hoc projects as well. 
  • Skilled communicator when speaking and writing, and an active, engaged listener; strong presentation and facilitation skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to network, influence, collaborate and build relationships with clients, partners, staff, remote colleagues, and others; both independently and collaboratively lead, solve problems, make decisions and manage change.
