Summary: Responsible for procuring and maintaining proper inventory levels of raw materials and packaging to fulfill production demand requirements. This is a planning role that work closely with Demand and Production planning to ensure efficient material flow to minimize production downtime.

Essential Functions – Job Duties: The following duties are considered essential to the job. Qualified individuals must have the ability – with or without reasonable accommodation to perform the following duties but not limited to:

• Maintain MRP parameters for purchased raw materials (ingredients and packaging) inventory.

• Initiate, plan, execute procurement and maintain inventory control.

• Maintain purchase order status and shipment tracking information in NAV.

• Coordinate with domestic and overseas manufacturers to assure supply.

• Initiate and coordinate the necessary product movements (and transfers) to prevent out of stocks and out of date issues.

MRP Proficiency

• Maintain purchased item parameters, per policy and guidelines.

• Help research and resolve issues with system-suggested requirements.

• Complete assigned Workflow System steps (i.e. PO creation, COA, PO releases, etc.).

• Process invoices received from freight forwarders, pier pass and other assigned invoices. Contact vendors if invoices are not received on a timely manner.

• Assist purchasing/accounting department to ensure timely payment to vendors.

• Report problems or issues encountered in NAV to management or help desk and follow up until problem is resolved.

Procurement and Inventory Control

• Plan and execute procurement of raw materials and packaging from global contract manufacturers and suppliers.

• Process POs based on requirements, sales and production forecast using MRP system in NAV.

• Monitor open POs on your assigned commodities to ensure on-time deliveries.

• Work closely with receiving department to make sure materials and packaging were delivered on a timely manner.

• Prepare transfer orders for materials/packaging transfers between plants and follow through until the transfer is reviewed, completed and received at destination.

• Monitor and update assigned commodities in NAV regularly. Such as safety stock, lead-time, EOQ, UoM, etc.

• Monitor raw materials shelf life and create plans and actions to prevent them from expiring, such as initiating transfer between facilities to balance inventory level.

• Proactively report raw materials and packaging availability issues to your supervisors and managers.

Cost Control/Quality Control & Others

• Assist operations and purchasing with issues regarding SQF requirements for raw materials and packaging for assigned vendors.

• Coordinate with contract overseas manufactures and suppliers for all required commercial documents and follow through until receipt of such documents.

• Maintain constant communication with QC, Manufacturing and vendors to address quality issues on all assigned commodities.

• Maintain and keep reports such as At Risk Materials, Financial Exposure and COA Master File updated at all times.

• Perform other administration duties and clerical support to department heads such as ordering office supplies, requesting new raw materials or packaging samples or sending samples to new vendors etc….

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED or equivalent and five (5) years related experience, A.A. degree and one (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus. Must be able to work independently, be detail oriented and highly organized.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as add, subtract, multiply divide numbers, and knowledge of discounts, interest, proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
