Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair combined heating, ventilation and cooling systems and connected equipment to perform safely and efficiently; perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance duties and routines. Perform hands-on maintenance of chillers: including centrifugals, absorbers, and other air and water cooled large tonnage chillers and related equipment. Troubleshoot and perform repairs of small tonnage air handlers across campus; including water cooled and DX package units, heat pumps, fan coil units, chilled water cooled air handlers and associated duct distribution, VAV's, reheats, and dampers. Make minor alterations to mechanical equipment as required. Promote and adhere to a safety first culture in carrying out their duties. Supervise work for quality, productivity, and thoroughness of all HVAC Shop Refrigeration Engineer and contractor work assignments. Prioritize and distribute written work orders. Manage resources of manpower, tools and materials efficiently to complete jobs within the allotted schedule and budget. Complete assigned tasks safely and efficiently utilizing good work practice as part of a maintenance team or working independently with minimal supervision. Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnosis on equipment, systems and controls. Correct and repair mechanical, electrical and instrumentation faults on equipment. Understand how to troubleshoot equipment faults/failures and identify root causes of recurring client HVAC complaints. Must be able to communicate effectively on e-mail, radio and via phone. Repairs and maintains machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operating manuals, manufacturers' specifications or supervisor s instructions, using hand and power tools, precision measuring or testing devices. Observes calibrates, troubleshoots and adjusts a wide variety of control valves, transmitters, and various instrumentation and control devices to assure proper operation and repair. Assists in the scoping, planning and schedule of shutdowns and repairs. Orders supplies and replacement parts used as required and directed. Responds to emergencies and determines corrective actions using available resources. Performs other duties as determined and assigned by their supervisor. Uses judgment to arrive at accurate decisions regarding the most efficient means of accomplishing tasks. Perform quality control inspections to assure completion of the work in accordance with job specifications, standards and direction. Responsibilities Required Education: Qualifications In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $52.397. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts.
