From managed toll lanes and long-range corridor plans to complex interchanges, major roadway, and segmental bridge designs, our teams provide the highest quality planning, environmental and engineering design solutions to our clients. Qualifications

RS&H is currently seeking a Highway Engineer II to join our Transportation Infrastructure Great Lakes Division in either our St. Charles, IL, Chicago, IL, or our Springfield, IL office.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university
  • Maryland Professional Engineering (PE) registration or the ability to obtain their PE within 6 months of hire
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in highway design and plan production with the ability to perform planning, conceptual design, preliminary engineering, and final design activities
  • Experience with Bicycle and Pedestrian Facility Design
  • Proficiency with Microstation SS4/SS10
  • Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer
  • Thorough knowledge of Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), local municipality, and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) policies and procedures;
  • Strong knowledge of AASHTO A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices
  • Working knowledge of 3D workspaces/corridor modeling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently with general supervision as well as within a collaborative team environment and the willingness to work with different teams to meet project deadlines
  • Ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, and other key stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and overall quality control
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
